In celebration of 5 years of Heart of Dinner nourishing and caring for our beloved Elders, we’re thrilled to introduce the Bottle Gourd Tote!

The bottle gourd, also known as the calabash gourd, holds deep significance across many Asian cultures as a symbol of blessings, longevity, and protection—believed to ward off negativity while attracting prosperity.

Much like our five-year journey, where the gourd deepens its roots and stretches outward and grows into a vessel, Heart of Dinner has evolved from a seed of an idea into an operation on its way to providing 250,000 meals to Elders facing food insecurity and isolation. All while being a vessel for community, connection, and belonging—where Elders, volunteers, and supporters find a home.

This special tote features artwork by Brooklyn designer Andrew Teoh, who first joined the Heart of Dinner community in 2020. Since then, he has been with us through many milestones, and for our 5th anniversary, he generously gifted us this beautiful design!

When you carry this tote, you’re also carrying the bottle gourd’s age-old blessings of protection and prosperity.
